This dinoflagellate symbiont was observed on the hydroid, Velella velella, By the wind sailor; at Sennen Cove, Cornwall. 04.06.14.
Algae were separated from the hydroid by gently shaking the hydroid in a container of seawater, the algae are an olive-green colour in natural light.

people find and identify it. Sometimes the difference between species is obvious but many species can only be determined by observing microscopic characteristics that are specific to any one species.
