Images of this species were taken at the foot of a north facing rock overhang, on a very low spring tide at Roskilley near Mousehole, Cornwall. 12.03.12. SW4723327209, SW4723227204.
This species is not a common find between the tides, extreme lowershore only, but is often found in the shallow sublittoral and on the sides of marinas.
Devonshire cup coral, Caryophyllia (Caryophyllia) smithii, may also have growing on it the epizoic barnacle, Megatrema anglicum. and be parasitized by the green boring algae Ostreobium quekettii.
