Specimen found in scrape sample of marine fouling taken from pontoons at Newlyn Marina, Newlyn, Cornwall. 28.04.18.
The species here was found in a scrape sample taken from pontoons at the marina. What tends to happen with scrape sampling is that in removing some of the sea squirts they are damaged and as a result copepod parasites can be released into specimen containers, parasites such as Haplostoma eruca and Pachypygus gibber. Haplostoma eruca is not a commonly reported species and is found in the intestines of Ciona intestinalis, the Yellow vase sea squirt.
Thanks go to Myles O'Reilly for his help in confirming this species.
