The hybrid Amaryllis belladonna 'Purpurea Major' is included here for commercial sales of this hybrid outweigh the species Amaryllis belladonna; as such the hybrid may be more commonly found naturalised or as a relic of cultivation. Amaryllis belladonna can be quite difficult to obtain from commercial sources.
