At the time of writing, the site above is the only site known where this species grows in the UK. The land the species is on is also due to be developed. It is thought that this species might have arrived in the UK via the ferry from Santander in Spain.

This species was originally discovered by Phil Pullen, a local plant recorder and identified by David Fenwick.

The species has no common name in the UK. Its full common name in the United States is the North-eastern Annual Saltmarsh Aster, calling this species the Marsh Aster may be more appropriate; although it might be confused with Aster tripolium the Sea Aster.

The main objective of this website is in furthering environmental awareness and education through the medium of photography. To increase awareness and access to the flora of the region and help

people find and identify it. Sometimes the difference between species is obvious but a few species may only be determined by observing microscopic differences that are characteristic to any one species.
