O. rosea is a 'very rare' alien weed in the UK. It is likely to be imported as seed amongst plant material from the Americas or other places where the species occurs as an alien. In the US seed of Oenothera rosea would seem to be marketed Mexican Primrose and there the species is also a pass around. It appears that under favorable conditions the species behaves like O. biennis, cambrica and glazioviana in the UK. O. rosea also being reported as a kerb and lawn weed in some areas of the US. Erradication should be by spraying as pulling may increase population size as species favoured broken ground in which to germinate.
