Crepidula fornicata (Linnaeus, 1758) - American slipper limpet (Marine snail images)

Found in many sheltered bays, estuaries, beaches and rocky shores across the region. Shells often seen washed up on beaches close to estuaries such as at Dawlish Warren, Devon; but this species is commonly found on the lowershore stuck to rocks and stones and other large shells. Several may also be found stuck together forming a small stack.

Images were taken at Dawlish Warren Beach, Batten Bay, Plymouth, Devon; and at Spit Point, Par and the River Tamar at Henn Point, Saltash, Cornwall.
