Images taken of eelgrass beds occuring across the south coast of Cornwall. Images taken at Hannafore near Looe, Marazion near St. Michael's Mount and at Long Rock near Penzance. Eelgrass is a nationally rare species and is a very sensitive species, it can be affected by pollution, disease, trampling by humans and by anchoring. It is a very important species in that it provides a very important habitat for a wide range of animal species.

Eelgrass is frequently overgrown by various red seaweeds, these include Acrochaetium virgatulum. Eggs of the Banded chink shell may also be seen on eelgrass as well as species of Stalked jellyfish.
