This species is not a true marine animal at all, but may be found where there is a source of water such as a stream or river close to the shore, the species being washed out of the stream or river by heavy rainfall etc..

Specimen above found skating across a rockpool on the lowershore some distance away from a local stream at Chimney Rocks, Penzance, Cornwall. 07.04.11.
