Species found on Ascophyllum nodosum, Knotted or Egg Wrack, that has drifted across from the USA or Canada, and washed-up at Perranporth, Cornwall. 30.01.15. The species here needs checking given the origin of the algae.

This species, represented by small black dots in the images, was typically found with Pelvetia canaliculata, Channelled Wrack. It is an example of mycophycobiosis where a fungi lives inside a larger algae without being parasitic. Specimen was found at Skilly, near Newlyn, Cornwall. 15.10.11.
