The species was found on 2-3mm shipworm valves of Psiloteredo megotara as well as on the wood the shipworms were boring into. Shipworms are a wood boring bivalve and can often be found within timber and driftwood that has been cast up on the shore.

The shipworms and fungus was found on a 30cm diameter piece of plywood washed up at Sennen Cove, Penwith, Cornwall. 02.11.12.

The asexual fungi Trichocladium achrasporum and Trichocladium lignicola were also found on the surface of the plywood.

Here I am in debt to Professor Gareth Jones for his assistance in identifying all the species of marine fungi found on the plywood.

The main objective of this website is in furthering environmental awareness and education through the medium of photography. To increase awareness and access to the wildlife of the region and help
people find and identify it. Sometimes the difference between species is obvious but many species can only be determined by observing microscopic characteristics that are specific to any one species.
