Specimens above were found at the base of the blade of Kelp / Oarweed, Laminaria digitata, at Battery Rocks, Penzance, Cornwall. 31.10.16.

Material has been kindly examined for the presence of a marine fungi by Prof. Gareth Jones. The gall is not caused by a fungal agent.

Please note the small round brown globules are a juvenile stage of the brown algae Oyster Thief.
